City Of Alexandria Industrial Painter, Water in Alexandria, Louisiana

Annual Salary Range: $33, 219.89 - $39, 855.19 Grade: 19 (Employee: 7% on your current salary, whichever is greater; or 10.5% on your current salary, whichever is greater, if position is 3 grades or higher than current position) Appointment to a position in the classified service shall be at the minimum of the corresponding pay range unless otherwise approved.

Examination is announced to establish an employment list to fill vacancies in the Water Production department and future vacancies as they occur to perform skilled trades work in the application of paint and similar materials to various surfaces, to include all preparation, repair work, and cleanup related to the completion of each job. Requires working in industrial settings with moderately dangerous environmental conditions (e.g. climbing elevated water tanks) and working with specialized materials. Performs other related technical tasks; prepares surfaces for wallpaper application and applies paper; cuts glass and replaces windowpanes; finishes sheetrock and adds other surfaces with sheetrock compound. Receives and reviews work orders, purchase orders, paint color history cards, MSDS documentation, and related information. Operates various types of equipment to include lifts, bucket trucks, genie boom lifts, ladders, and related tools such as stationary power equipment, hand tools, and ladders; utilizes safety harness and other climbing gear to secure the worker to the structures.

Minimum Applicant Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 3 years of experience as a painter in an industrial or commercial setting; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Must possess a valid drivers license.

Will be required to obtain a valid Louisiana drivers license upon hire and maintain throughout employment for this classification.

Work Schedule: M-F, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM; May work weekends and holidays

This examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, a performance test or any combination thereof deemed necessary to adequately screen and rank applicants. Examination notices will be sent out via email with a testing date, time, and location. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their previous training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment.
