The Product Transition Department, 05478, provides industry partner support for the Hypersonic Programs in the Strike Systems group within the Integrated Military Systems Program at Sandia. Department 05478 coordinates the development of Mechanical, Electrical, and Avionics flight technologies to be integrated and tested with industry partner support to provide flight solutions for missiles and hypersonic flight platforms. Typically, these systems support the DOD including Army, Navy, Air Force, and other Agencies. Center 05400 has successfully developed hypersonic systems for the nation and is extending our role on the national stage for both developmental and fieldable systems.
The Center 05400 Integrated Technical Systems, Department 05473, is divided into two components. Org. 5473, employs a wide variety of technical staff and technologists that provide technical support in the areas of Mission Assurance, Security, and ES&H, including Work Planning and Control, corporate compliance, and laboratory integration. Org. 5473-2, Technical Program Support Team, operates a laboratory complex that provides hardware definition, assembly, ground test, instrumentation, and characterization. Department 5473 supports programs in the Integrated Military Systems Center.
These programs cover a broad spectrum of applications; from sophisticated aerodynamically controlled vehicles, maneuvering hypersonic kill vehicles, and ballistic missile systems. All the activities require the extensive use of commonly developed Sandia avionics as well as prototype next generation technology that has never been flown. Leveraging existing technologies and maturing the Hypersonics portfolio for national needs is a demanding task and is a key component of Outstanding Service in the National Interest. The department strives to provide leadership to the Laboratory and the Nation in the creative development, use, and application of Hypersonic flight platforms.
