Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Environmental Services practice seeks a Project Manager with demonstrated experience in the southwestern US to support our local environmental team based out of Chandler, AZ. This position will support project management and provide technical support for groundwater and soil remediation projects, Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessment (ESAs), and other due diligence work across multiple industries. The position requires an independent individual with solid problem solving and communication skills, and environmental remediation experience. Project management experience and professional licensure (e.g. PE, PG) are preferred.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead soil, soil vapor, and groundwater investigation and remediation.

  • Manage and oversee personnel conducting due diligence, Phase I ESAs or other environmental projects.

  • Collect, and interpret data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to confirm compliance.

  • Work with project managers and senior project staff in producing high-quality work products for our clients.

  • Compile, evaluate, analyze, and present/report subsurface investigation data and preparing technical reports.

  • Coordinate and assist with scoping and scheduling field investigations.

  • Fieldwork, including local travel, and some regional travel, when necessary.

  • Contribute to design and optimization of environmental remediation systems and strategies.

  • Prepare health & safety plans, work plans, reports, and other technical documents.

  • Review, communicate, and manage the project health and safety plan so that project personnel, client and subcontractors are aware of risks and hazards, and incidents are prevented.

  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, including health and safety management.

  • Develop proposals.

  • Manage project budgets and schedules.

  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and internal project staff.

  • Mentor and/or supervise team members conducting field work (e.g. engineer or geologists in training).

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated experience with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Nevada including regulatory coordination.

  • Knowledge of documents related to requests for proposals, invitations for bid and tendering offers.

  • "Hands-on" experience in managing projects from start to finish.

  • Knowledge of computer applications and functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Proven experience working in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated experience meeting project deadlines in a cost-effective manner.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including advanced technical writing abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and establish positive working relationships.

  • Must be able to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

  • Ability to perform work accurately in a detailed-oriented environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondence and other written materials.

  • Ability to travel regionally and locally as required for proposal and project needs (up to 25%).

  • Ability to pass a background security check, physical exam, and drug screen.

  • Valid US driver’s license and good driving record.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field.

  • Professional Engineering (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) License preferred,

  • 5 to 10 years’ work experience in the consulting field; or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience.

  • 40-Hr HAZWOPER and 8-Hour refresher training.

  • 8-Hr Supervisor HAZWOPER training preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time or ability to work remotely and independently from a home office. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather and active construction sites.
