O'Connell Electric Company Site Safety manager in Albany, New York
The Site Safety Manager plays a key role in assisting our safety team and the Construction Management Team (CMT) to ensure a safe working environment for all workers and subcontractors on the construction sites. Your primary responsibility will be to support various team members in implementing and overseeing safety programs, policies, and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries. This role will also require administrative support including creating safety documents, training, and briefings, scheduling training, and meetings as well as reviewing safety audits for accuracy and correct filing. Below is a brief overview of the key responsibilities and tasks of a Site Safety Manager at O’Connell Electric Company.Core Responsibilities:Develop safety education material. Create, document, implement, monitor and enforce job-site specific health and safety plans that commensurate with the scope of activities to ensure compliance with requirements.Ensure that contractors and subcontractors have submitted their pre-qualification documentation. Verify that the sub-tiers have been approved.Train all project/field personnel on the requirements and submit all subcontractor training documentation to the CMT, as files may be subject to auditing.Attend CMT meetings, participate in workforce feedback forums and craft appreciation activities. Participate in the Project Safety Leadership Team meetings.Lead safety engagement during field audits. Attend daily safety meetings at the work site to discuss safe plans (each shift). Attend weekly foreman and superintendent project safety meetingsTrack and analyze safety performance indicators. All unsafe conditions and acts shall be documented and tracked to closure, regardless of scale. Participate in incident analysis record keeping.Coordinate and document daily job site toolbox and safety meetings with company and site personnel. Submit documentation to appropriate personnel.Perform daily safety field audits and safe behavioral observations. Identify and correct hazards and unsafe acts or conditions and bring issues to the attention of the company’s safety rules and established practices.Report any unplanned event or incident to the CMT immediately. Submit initial documentation of unplanned event investigations within the same shift, less than eight hours.Notify the CMT immediately of any regulatory agency personnel arriving on the project site.Support the disciplinary plan for willful violations of fatality prevention program and failure to report incidents.Collaborate with internal stakeholders on safety related initiatives.Post all regulatory documents required by law.Stay current on industry trends and best practices.Participate in training and career development opportunities. Required Education and Credentials:Minimum of five years of experience working in construction safety, with three years of management experience.Requires a recognized safety certification, safety related degree, or an OSHA 500, STSC, CHST, SMS, ASP, or CSP certificate.Valid driver's license Compensation:The minimum and maximum annual salary that O’Connell Electric Company, Inc. believes in good faith to be accurate for this position at the time of this posting is between $88,500 to 97,500 annually.It is important to O’Connell Electric that potential candidates for this position understand that compensation depends on numerous factors including the geographic location where the role will be performed, skills required, experience, complexity, travel, and market rate.
