FirstLight Fiber Sales Engineer in Albany, New York

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Engineer to support our Enterprise sales team in the New England area. The Sales Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing and costing network designs, actively driving the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, and serving as the primary technical advisor and product advocate for FirstLight services. Collaborating closely with the sales team, the Sales Engineer will translate customer requirements into tailored solutions, leveraging their expertise to establish and nurture strong client relationships throughout the sales cycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide pre-sales technical support to the FirstLight Sales team.

  • Present FirstLight’s service capabilities to technical and business-oriented stakeholders within customers/prospects

  • Translate customer requirements into comprehensive solutions, including design, costing, and business case development.

  • Represent FirstLight at industry conferences and seminars.

  • Address functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs

  • Convey customer requirements to internal teams within FirstLight.

  • Serve as a liaison between customers and FirstLight engineering and technical operations personnel during the design, construction, and installation process.

  • Travel throughout the sales territory as needed to support sales and customers at in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated with a proven track record in telecommunications sales and technology.

  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic technical environment catering to large business customers’ needs.

  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to engage at all levels within a business, including C-level management.

  • Effective written communication skills for emails, RFP responses, and reports

  • Organized and detailed oriented, with project management experience

  • 5-7+ years of relevant experience in service provider sales engineering and/or Implementation

  • Solid comprehension of the competitive landscape in the telecommunications industry

  • Familiarity with new and emerging telecommunications technology, including Data Center, Ethernet, virtual PBX, managed services, and software as a service (SaaS)

Benefits and Compensation:

Estimated base annual salary is anticipated to be between $70,000-$80,000. Pay ranges represent a good faith annual estimate at the time of the job posting. Actual pay will be based on multiple factors including experience, skill sets, location, internal equity, and market rates.
