SUNY System Administration Health Policy Analyst in Albany, New York

Job Description:The State University of New York (SUNY) invites applications for the position of Health Policy Analyst in the Office of Health and Hospital Affairs. The SUNY System includes 29 state-operated campuses, 30 community colleges and five statutory colleges administered by private institutions of higher education located throughout the State. The System also includes four academic medical centers (Buffalo, Stony Brook, Upstate, and Downstate), three tertiary care hospitals, the College of Optometry, the Long Island Veteran's Home, clinical practices, and other related healthcare facilities.The Office of Health and Hospital Affairs (OHHA) at SUNY System Administration, facilitates and supports the strategic direction, policy, operations, and advocacy for: SUNY's health care facilities and practices; campus healthcare, mental health and wellness for students, and healthcare workforce.The health policy analyst provides analytic, research, and policy support on a variety of exciting and impactful projects in the Health and Hospital Affairs portfolio. The selected individual will focus on healthcare workforce and support other special projects. The ideal candidate will have a balance of strong quantitative skills and dedication to understanding project content areas, ensuring comprehensive analysis and informed decision-making for effective solutions.This position reports to the Senior Vice Chancellor (SVP) for OHHA and works closely with the Senior Health Policy Analyst & Special Projects Manager as well as other team members on a variety of projects and roles.Responsibilities:Provide general analytical support, interpretation, write reports, and communicate clearly with a range of internal and external stakeholders.Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis for proposals, projects, and program implementation. These will cover a variety of healthcare matters such as health policy options and impacts, NYS health workforce, SUNY health program landscape, SUNY survey analyses, healthcare trends (i.e. service needs, healthcare delivery system, quality and outcomes), and more.Compile and critically analyze healthcare data to assess outcomes and inform decision making. Effectively communicate and visualize findings.Support healthcare workforce initiatives that increase SUNY healthcare program capacity, pathways, and educational quality, including, but not limited to:Assist with the development and management of the ongoing healthcare workforce taskforce process, relevant content, and implementation of certain recommendations from Phase I of the SUNY Future of Healthcare Workforce Task ForceCreate materials and a process to identify, track and support healthcare workforce pathways, stackable credentials, innovative opportunities, facilitate applicable partnerships, promote certain experiential learning opportunities, and optimize healthcare program capacity by facilitating coordination across SUNY campuses.Support funding programs, such as the High Needs Nursing fund, through guideline generation, allocation modeling, and application review when applicableSupport nursing simulation implementation across SUNY nursing programs by collecting and maintaining updated information on the SUNY simulation space landscape, closely monitoring, and reviewing campus plans, and analyzing the impact of simulation implementation on SUNY health program capacity and education quality.Given the dynamic nature of healthcare and changing office needs, other duties may be assigned.Requirements:Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred1-2 years of relevant experience preferredProficiency in quantitative and qualitative analysis techniquesAbility to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusionsOrganizational skills and project managementExcellent interpersonal skills and problem solvingAdditional Information:Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $63,000-$72,000.Excellent Benefit Package which includes: NYS health insurance, free dental and vision coverage, competitive retirement options, tuition assistance, parental leave at full pay, and generous vacation, sick, and holiday time. 13 days of paid holidays per year; 21 days of vacation and 21 days of sick time accrued each year. Minimum Salary: 63,000 Maximum Salary: 72,000 Salary Unit: Yearly
