UNIVERSAL Technologies, LLC GIS Specialist in Albany, New York

UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a GIS Specialist for a remote role. Candidates living in the EST are preferred. Must have a LinkedIn account.

Position:

The GIS Specialist will play a key role in developing software and automating workflow processes for the NYS GIS content and hosting platform. This role involves scripting new processes, configuring databases, and testing GIS-related web services. The Specialist will also work on running and troubleshooting ETL workflows for GIS data and provide technical support for database scripts and tools.

    SCOPE OF SERVICES:

    As a GIS Specialist, your responsibilities include:

  • Configuring and working with databases and developing functions and queries.

  • Developing, testing, and deploying GIS software and GIS datasets.

  • Developing scripts and utilizing object-oriented programming, with a preference for Python.

  • Running GIS data ETL workflows, manually or through scheduled automation, including triggers, actions, indicators, notifications, and logging.

  • Testing and troubleshooting technical issues with GIS database scripts, tools, and workflows.

    MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

    Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered.

  • 6-10 years of experience configuring and working with databases, developing functions and queries.

  • Proven experience in developing, testing, and deploying GIS software and GIS datasets.

  • Experience in developing scripts and object-oriented programming (Python preferred).

  • Experience running GIS data ETL workflows, both manually and through scheduled automation.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for technical issues with GIS databases, scripts, tools, and workflows.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, math, computer science, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

  • An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience may be considered.
