SUNY System Administration Capital Asset Accounting Specialist in Albany, New York

Job Description:System Administration is seeking a Capital Asset Accountant. This role assists the State-operated campuses and hospitals with properly reporting capital assets and the reconciliation of capital asset activity within the State University Fixed Asset Account System (SFAAS) and equipment reporting application. The incumbent will oversee and maintain reporting for campus Capital Asset Activity and is responsible for overseeing surplus of Equipment and Motorized Vehicles. Duties and Responsibilities:Communicate with University campus personnel and committees, System Administration offices, and external New York State agencies related to capital asset accounting and reportingProvide oversight and communicate updates regarding U-Wide Equipment applicationAssist with hospital reporting - for accounting and reporting needs for equipment and capital projectsInvolvement of multiple year-end reporting amongst for the state-operated campuses and hospitalsMaintain accurate financial records for the preparation of the annual financial statementsPrepare various financial reports requested by State University managementOverall Administrator for University equipment database with oversight of reporting processes and assist with training campus communityOversee accuracy of reporting fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions with associated depreciationServe as the liaison between SUNY campuses and NYS Office of General Services for surplus equipmentServe as the liaison between Research Foundation, SUNY Construction Fund and SUNY Campuses for all Capital Asset Reporting.Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related fieldOne or more years of professional or educational related experienceExperience with capital asset management or financial web-based applicationsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AccessAbility to effectively communicate with various levels of management, campuses and other agenciesKnowledge of financial accounting and reporting standardsAbility to work independently and collaborativelyExperience and ability of managing large sets of dataAble to manage multiple priorities effectively with strong organizational and time management skillsAdditional Information:Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $56,000-$65,000Excellent Benefit Package which includes: NYS health insurance, free dental and vision coverage, competitive retirement options, tuition assistance, parental leave at full pay, and generous vacation, sick, and holiday time. 13 days of paid holidays per year; 21 days of vacation and 21 days of sick time accrued each year. Minimum Salary: 56,000 Maximum Salary: 65,000 Salary Unit: Yearly
