Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Information Technology Examination Analyst, CG-2210-7/9/11 in Albany, Georgia

Summary This position is located in the Division of Risk Management Supervision of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of performing a variety of technical, analytical, and advisory duties related to Information Technology (IT) examinations in support of examination teams. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill identical vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement. Responsibilities At the full performance level, major duties include: Performs IT examination and evaluation in support of cybersecurity functions that support the bank examination process. Utilizes expanded examination procedures, supplemental work programs, and FFIEC IT Examination Handbook methods for independent review and evaluation of financial institutions and service providers (entities). Applies knowledge of banking and regulatory environments in relation to cybersecurity, and data protection laws and regulations to anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems and architecture vulnerabilities. Applies knowledge of IT operations, related industry practices and regulatory guidance. Applies knowledge of industry standards regarding networking, how institutions systems are connected to external systems, and of current network technologies and topologies. Evaluates and assesses the infrastructure hardware and software used to manage network defenses. Documents examination findings and writes report comments to recommend and support appropriate URSIT ratings to the EIC. Communicates status of work assignments, problems, and possible delays regularly to the EIC so resource adjustments can be made to ensure the timely and efficient completion of IT Exams. Meets with entity management, board of directors and others to: make corrective action recommendations for deficiencies; provides support for ratings; inform management of potential enforcement actions; answer questions; and to collect management's response to corrective actions recommended in the Report of Examination. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. TO QUALIFY AT THE CG-7 LEVEL, APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: EXPERIENCE: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-5 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing evaluations or review of information technology systems or applications. OR EDUCATION: Applicants must complete 1 full academic year of graduate level education or meet Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) provisions and completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, technology management, or other related field. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. To qualify for Superior Academic Achievement, applicants must have met one of the following: a. A grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. b. A grade-point average of "B+" (a GPA of 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. c. Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university or major subdivision. d. Membership in a national honor society (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. OR A COMBINATION of EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess a combination of both education and specialized experience described above that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. TO QUALIFY AT THE CG-9 LEVEL, APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: EXPERIENCE: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-7 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing IT support in safety and soundness or IT examinations at a financial institution; providing assistance with IT audits of security controls or policies of data centers or financial institutions; or providing assistance with administering information security programs or other key data center functions. OR EDUCATION: Applicant must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL. B, or J.D., if related) or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, technology management, or other related field. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. OR A COMBINATION of EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess a COMBINATION of graduate level education beyond the 1st full year of graduate education, and specialized experience as described above, that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. TO QUALIFY AT THE CG-11 LEVEL, APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: EXPERIENCE: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-9 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience conducting safety and soundness or IT examinations at a financial institution; OR serving as an auditor on IT audits of security controls or policies of data centers or financial institutions; OR administering information security programs or other key date center functions. OR EDUCATION: Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree. This education must include a undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the following majors: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more fields identified above and required the development of applications, systems, or networks. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions; OR A COMBINATION of EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have completed graduate level education as described above beyond the 2nd full year of graduate education, and specialized experience as described above, that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. In addition, if qualifying with experience, all grade levels require IT-related experience that must demonstrate each of the four competencies listed below with a minimum of 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
