The Opportunity

This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division, where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.

As a Sr. Data Scientist you will work as an expert within sustaining engineering to use big data and product knowledge to understand product behavior in the field. You will lead projects and collaborate with peers across research and development developing insights that will drive continuous product improvement and impact new product development.

What you’ll work on

  • Utilize product knowledge and scientific method to analyze product field data.

  • Develop creative ways to analyze and wrangle data

  • Clearly communicate findings to peers and Sr. Management with varied backgrounds.

  • Work with subject matter experts to develop and test hypothesis

  • Cultivate relationships with SMEs across the organization

  • Maintain a scientific, analytical mindset on projects

  • Communicate effectively and participate on cross functional development teams

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data analysis processes, methodologies and findings

  • Comply with all applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or MS/5+ years of relevant experience in data science

  • Research experience using scientific method.

  • Experience with medical device, IVD, consumer electronics, or embedded systems

  • Expert skills with software tools and database tools such as Python, R, SQL,

  • Expert skills with Amazon Web Services (preferred) or Azure

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent data analysis skills

  • Knowledge of statistical methods

  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and lead a team.

  • Self-starter

Preferred

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Databricks, QuickSight, Power BI)

  • Knowledge of data governance principles, data integration, data warehousing and ETL processes

  • Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations, such as HIPAA and GDPR

The base pay for this position is $109,300.00 – $218,500.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
