Principal Mechanical Design Engineer
Qatar
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to provide the necessary technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to the mechanical staff while working on some of the most exciting and large-scale infrastructure projects.
What You'll Be Doing:
The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will ensure total quality of all engineering efforts and independently develops and/or supervises the creation of Mechanical engineering designs for large and mega infrastructure projects that meet customer quality requirements and international as well as Local Authority regulations and standards. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
Engineering / Design of major potable water, wastewater and storm pumping stations.
Engineering / Design of water and industrial wastewater plants, Sewage treatment plants and RO Plants.
Carrying out Concept, preliminary and detailed engineering works related to process mechanical engineering such as developing process mechanical calculations.
Carryout design of odour control systems.
Carry out hydraulic calculations and hydraulic analysis modeling for sewage treatment plants and pumping stations.
Strong knowledge of Mechanical systems design for buildings such as HVAC, Plumping and Fire Fighting.
Knowledge of septicity analysis & its related studies.
Coordinate and obtain the data from suppliers as necessary to complete the process mechanical design for preliminary, biological and tertiary treatments for treatment plants.
Carry out process mechanical design for treatment plants and pumping stations to PWA standards and quality as and when assigned by the team lead.
Initiating and developing the detailed designs for process mechanical designs
Excellent report writing skills.
Preparing and generating spread sheets to carry out calculations.
Coordination with other Discipline Engineers as applicable.
Coordinate with BIM/CAD Technicians concerning project requirements and timelines.
Conducting client and project meetings as required by the project.
Ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met in all designs.
Support the project submittals and No Objection Certificates (NOC) process to the relevant Authorities.
Allocating resources and time effectively
Stay updated with relevant technical developments within the discipline.
Understand the contract and scope of project deliverables.
Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to Seniors or MEP manager.
Attend and contribute in team and project meetings as required.
Complete accurate time sheets by set deadline.
Take on additional duties as assigned by management.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
At least 20+ years of overall experience.
Extensive experience in design development of major potable water, wastewater and storm pumping stations, water, industrial wastewater plants, Sewage treatment plants and RO Plants.
Advanced proficiency in relevant software including Watts for Septicity analysis (preferable), hydraulic modeling analysis, CFD, Surge Analysis etc.
Must have thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Extensive experience in Doha/Qatar is mandatory.
