The Opportunity: We are seeking to hire a Peer Support Recovery Specialist to join our case management team. This individual will work to enhance the provision of other clinical services to clients through both one's lived experience of a mental health challenge or substance addiction and one's continuous recovery. The Peer Support Recovery Specialist is integral to the case management team's ability to connect with clients.
What You'll Do:
- Provide peers/clients with support and encouragement.
- Share your own story of recovery with the peers and clients assigned to your care through the case management team.
- Foster engagement of and offer hope to clients through an establishment of trust.
- Model appropriate social skills for clients.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients and family members.
- Assist clients with referrals to and navigation of agency and community resources.
- Communicate the needs of clients with co-workers and supervisors.
- Complete and submit documentation in a timely manner.
Currently hiring for a number of part-time (20 hours/week) positions on our different case management teams.
What We're Looking For:
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- A person with a lived experience of mental health or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder.
- Certification from OhioMHAS as an Ohio Peer Recovery Supporter (CPRS) required.
- Timely recertification as required by OhioMHAS must be maintained throughout employment.
- A car and a valid Ohio driver's license and insurability through the Agency's insurance carrier required.
- A deeply held belief in CSS's recovery-centered mission.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse challenges.
- Excellent organizational, attention to detail and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
- Skill in managing time and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work non-judgmentally with individuals whose behavior and belief systems are incongruent with that of society and/or your personal beliefs.
Perseverance in goals with individuals who may not improve or may only improve slowly.
