SHORT-TERM SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER SUBSTITUTE VACANCY
The following position is posted in accordance with the negotiated agreement:
POSITION:1.0 FTE Short-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher Grades 7-12
(November 7, 2024 for approximately 6-12 weeks)
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:NYS Students with Disabilities K-12 or NYS Students with Disabilities 7-12 *Certification in a Content Area 7-12
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards, resources and classroom management.
Understanding of various disabilities, teaching strategies, and behavioral management techniques.
Excellent communication skills and ability to create a positive student centered learning environment.
Utilization of student assessments and data processes to identify programmatic needs, as well as target support for individual students.
Collaborate with faculty and grade level team to design, modify, and implement effective lesson (unit) plans.
Knowledge of the principles and methods for instruction at the Secondary level.
Demonstrate ability to design and implement lessons to meet the learning needs of students with varying levels of ability.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1.0 FTE Grades 7-12 Special Education Teacher
Delivery of Specially Designed Instruction using a variety of instructional models.
Understanding of various disabilities, teaching strategies, and behavioral management techniques.
Required progress monitoring and reporting per regulation requirements.
Ongoing training and workshops to stay updated on best practices and legal requirements in special education.
START DATE:November 7, 2024
SALARY:Compensation as per District/AFA Collective Bargaining Agreement
