The Controls Systems Engineer role in Caterpillar’s Excavation Division (EXD) is focused on delivering the next generation of machine control software features and system efficiency breakthroughs to take the industry to the next levels in productivity, safety, and technology. The position will deliver next generation system improvements and advanced control software across the EXD product lineup which includes hydraulic excavators, forestry products, material handlers, and work tools. The candidate will participate in the full development cycle of embedded software control features including design, development, integration, and validation of machine software systems impacting base machine performance, system efficiency, operator ease of use, and autonomous operation.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Utilize model-based development tools, such as MATLAB/Simulink to perform algorithm design, simulation, and integration
Use version control tools to manage the implementation and release of embedded software features
Lead New Product Introduction and Annual Product Update integration activities to implement embedded software solutions from concept through production
Support expansion of existing embedded software features to new machine models
Perform on-machine development activities such as software verification and software feature tuning
Use on machine development and data acquisition tools such as CANape to verify and tune hardware/software functionality
Top candidates will have:
Experience with control software development tools and process (MATLAB/Simulink/Git/C/C++/Autosar)
Knowledge of mobile construction equipment and electro-hydraulics
