Eaton Corporation Continuous Improvement Manager in Airdrie, Alberta

Eaton’s ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager. This position is based at our Airdrie, AB Eaton facility.

What you’ll do:

Position Overview and responsibilities: Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for improving organizational effectiveness through the coordination and deployment of the Eaton Business System to ensure the business meets growth, productivity, and CI objectives. Specific responsibilities will be overseeing the integration of the OPA business system into our systems and processes, Eaton Lean System deployment, and supporting MESH deployment & sustainment.

PEOPLE INFLUENCE/COORDINATION:

  • To serve as a role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, customer focus, continuous improvement, safety and environmental stewardship to ensure alignment with Eaton Electrical values.

  • Perform annual performance appraisals of subordinates and identify areas of improvement throughout appropriate coaching techniques.

  • Provides site Lean and Six Sigma training and mentoring.

  • Provide assistance in identifying, evaluating, and resolving human relations and work performance problems within department to facilitate communication and improve employee human relation skills and work performance.

PROCESS MANAGEMENT:

  • Direct the development and implementation of cost, productivity and strategic manufacturing programs consistent with plant objectives.

  • Identify metrics for key business drivers and reinforce knowledge of them throughout the operations.

  • Works through the leadership team to lead the development and implementation of the site Eaton Continuous Improvement System (ECIS) strategy, actions, and cross-functional activities.

  • Develop, implement and manage a robust cost-out and continuous improvement process.

  • Support the development and implementation of manufacturing plans to meet facility sales and inventory objectives.

  • Drive the Eaton Lean System deployment through training, facilitation and deployment of resources.

  • Conducts Eaton Lean System (ELS) assessments and identifies performance gaps. Works through the leadership team to prioritize improvement activities and close gaps.

  • Provides Operational Assessment (OpA) support across the organization to drive short-term and long-term business improvements and reports out to the Leadership team on a regular basis regarding lean and OpA progress.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

  • Plan and oversee cost-out, continuous improvement and capital programs for Supply Chain, manufacturing, quality, facilities and information systems for the Airdrie facility

  • Facilitate the implementation and reporting of Balanced Scorecard metrics. Report Balanced Scorecard results to the leadership team.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • 2-year post-secondary degree/diploma from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) years of experience in a continuous improvement related role within a manufacturing environment

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship

  • No relocation provided – candidate must reside within 80km of the Airdrie, AB site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary degree/diploma in manufacturing/industrial/mechanical engineering or business

  • Six Sigma Blackbelt Certification

  • Certified LEAN Trainer

  • Advanced computer skills – MS Office suite including Access, database and reporting software

  • Advanced Manufacturing Technologies - Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing
