COFMC Phlebotomist in Ada, Oklahoma
POSITIION: Phlebotomist
NATURE OF POSITION:
- The Phlebotomist performs waived testing and corresponding controls, and tests, in which he/she has had specific training. Assists with supply inventory and records.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Training appropriate for the tests being administered
RESPONSIBLE TO: Medical Laboratory Technician Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs venipuncture on adults and pediatrics
Performs capillary (finger, toe, heal) blood collection on adults and pediatrics
Processes specimens according to test specifications
Records workload and test results according to established lab protocols
Processes Pap Smear results and keeps the tickler file for follow-up
Performs waived and approved testing using appropriate equipment and materials
Performs and appropriately documents quality control procedures, instrument checks and maintenance reports
Consults with supervisor when controls are out of range, test results are abnormal, or when difficulties are encountered in testing procedure
Maintains good working relationships with other employees and observes patient confidentiality
Protects the confidentiality of patients and their records at all times by complying with the COFMC policies regarding patient confidentiality
Performs other duties as directed
