Element Materials Technology Payroll Manager in Acton, Massachusetts
Overview
NQA/Unitek @ Kiwa, an Element affiliate, is looking for an individual with strong analytical, organizational, and technical problem-solving skills to join our Finance Department as a Payroll Manager to manage US payroll functions. In this role, you will help with all aspects of the payroll function, using ADP’s hosted payroll services platform, Workforce Now.
You must have knowledge of US Payroll requirements / compliance by State, Prevailing Wage, ADP payroll practices, design, integration, and reporting requirements; customer service experience; and a successful track record of managing payroll solutions.
Responsibilities
Manage and process weekly and bi-weekly payroll, providing leadership and oversight to the function
Provide timely and accurate payroll payments for all employees in a multi-state environment, including approved regular pay, bonuses, prevailing wage compensation, overtime, etc.
Create audit procedures (such as analytics, monitoring controls, etc.) as necessary to review wages and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll
Identify and offer recommendations for improvements in processes, systems, and procedures to ensure department effectiveness
Provide consultative services to HR leadership on issues relating to employee pay and bonuses
Ensure appropriate earnings and deductions are configured in ADP
Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, deductions, new hires/terminations, accounting reports, etc.,
Provide management, regulatory agencies, and service providers with reports and data as requested
Resolve all payroll issues with ADP support
Stay current on ADP payroll system updates and training to ensure the highest return on investment for payroll system
Support annual HR events for change and/or optimizations related to reports or integrations (i.e., open enrollment, merit, bonus, recruiting)
Keep informed about changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process in the US
Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts
Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping confidential information
Maintains payroll staff by recruiting, counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
Prepare and balance period-end reports, and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements
Compile statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay
Assist with payroll and benefits components of annual budgeting
Assist with other basic accounting tasks, as needed and as bandwidth allows
Skills / Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to partner with key internal stakeholders, including operations, Finance, IT, and HR
Ability to provide strategic leadership, process improvement, program management, and quality customer service across the organization
Proven track record of optimizing payroll process using ADP Workforce Now Platform
Experience in translating functional payroll requirements into appropriate design documentation and system specification development
Strong technical problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot complex issues
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong planning, scheduling, and organization skills
Conflict resolution for dealing with disputes
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Payroll transition (change in providers) preferred
5+ years of ADP payroll configuration and processing experience strongly preferred
5+ years of recent payroll processing experience in a multi-state environment
5+ years Payroll software application experience with strong preference for ADP experience
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
