What’s the role?
Take responsibility for Sky News’ award-winning political team as Canberra Bureau Chief. Based in Parliament house, this leadership role focuses on both editorial and personnel management with a goal of breaking news stories and providing high quality news coverage.
This is an essential role in the lead up to the next Federal Election.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the Sky News Parliament House office
Make key editorial decisions and execute political news coverage
Lead and manage a team of reporters and producers. This includes assigning duties, providing direction and management of performance processes
Support the production of political news programmes, including Politics Now & Sunday Agenda
Maintain and develop professional contacts that will assist you in enhancing on-air coverage
Handle administrative functions of the office, including staff rostering, leave approvals and expense approvals
Ensure that content meets legal requirements and legal advice is passed on to relevant editorial staff
Who are you?
At least seven years of news experience, preferably within political journalism
Experience in managing staff
Excellent knowledge of Australian politics, news and international current affairs
Ability to write and edit news content
Knowledge of production systems including ENPS and Quantel
