Grant Thornton UAE Assistant Manager / Manager - M&A and International Tax in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Position Summary:

The Assistant Manager / Manager is primarily responsible for reviewing and delivering international tax services for a variety of industries; assisting in Tax Due Diligence projects; Economic Substance compliance and advisory services; core knowledge on GCC taxes; preparing complex international tax returns; developing and supervising junior team members; and assisting in client management and practice development activities.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide international tax services that provide measurable value and advise clients from a range of different industries on international tax matters.

  • Apply BEPS and Transfer Pricing concepts and technical expertise in resolving client challenges.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of complex tax concepts

  • Help achieve solutions to complex International Tax issues faced by the clients

  • Co-ordinate with other colleagues locally and globally to deliver international taxation engagements.

  • Participate in bids/ proposals for prospective clients .

  • Contribute with presentations and seminars to business forums.

  • Consult with the Partner and management on technical and risk matters.

  • Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns on international tax projects and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed.

  • Review complex business returns with international complexities and make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities; gain increasing responsibility in review process.

  • Research and analyze international and domestic tax issues.

  • Write and review tax advice for clients.

  • Respond to inquiries from tax authorities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Who we're looking for:

  • You'll have strong practical knowledge and experience of international tax.

  • You'll have a Bachelors' degree in finance or accounting with a specialization in tax.

  • You'll be studying towards the CTA/ ACCA/ CPA or an equivalent professional qualification relevant to tax services.

  • You'll be comfortable using Microsoft packages and technology.

  • You'll have excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • You'll demonstrate strong technical aptitude and commercial awareness.

  • You'll have the ability to work efficiently and with sound time management.
