Bio-Techne HR Business Partner (Maternity Cover, 9 to 12-month Fixed Term Contract) in Abingdon, Minnesota

Position Summary:

As part of the EMEA HR team supporting a diverse workforce, this role is fast-paced, solutions-oriented and requires effective communication at all levels, both locally and internationally. This role shapes, implements, influences, manages and delivers a broad range of people initiatives and HR activities to support and drive the EMEA business strategy. The role will be responsible for a defined client group within the EMEA region and will be responsible for overseeing all HR matters within that client group, supported by an HR Operations Specialist for elements of operational delivery.

This role builds ongoing and sustainable relationships in the organisation, trust and respect to ensure that the HR function is trusted as advisors to the business and seen as commercially aware professional practitioners of human resources.

HRBP supports the Director to deliver key projects and works closely with the global HR team to support the effective delivery of a high performing HR function and in the implementation of the strategic HR plan, projects and initiatives to positively add value to both Bio-Techne and employees

Key Responsibilities:

HR Operations

• Responsible for managing end to end employee lifecycle activities, supported in delivery by the HR Operations Specialist.

• Partner with management to lead the performance management processes, including working with employees and managers on completion of review process, annual reward reviews and communication, performance management of underperformers; coaching managers on delivering effective regular 1:1s and bi-annual reviews

• Proactively manage employee relations cases with support from HR Operations Specialist where appropriate.

• Manage employee relations cases to bring them to successful conclusion; ensure timely and effective support and interventions are provided; protect the business interest and ensure fair treatment of employees.

• Be the lead for assigned HR processes / transactions (eg benefits, reward, compensation)

Partner to Business

• Partner with the business, be accessible and meet regularly formally and informally to build relationships, support and enable the business strategy.

• Be a trusted coach in the organisation to help leadership and management to learn, develop, grow and solve real business problems.

• Practise coaching both formally and at all possible opportunities to enable people to be empowered to guide themselves.

• Challenge and coach all people managers on how to engage employees, address people issues and build capability.

• Act as a champion and change agent to ensure practice is relevant, up to date and consistent.

• Build strong credible relationships and not be afraid to challenge the norms of existing thinking with pragmatic, engaging HR interventions.

• Share thoughtful impact assessment, advice and risk management.

Culture and Image

• Embed and promote the EPIC values in all areas of work, maintaining the company’s culture, ethics, and people engagement.

• Support managers to consider their team development, engagement and how to embed the Bio-Techne vision and values.

• Demonstrate awareness of, and protect, the company’s internal and external reputation. Be a strong culture carrier.

Talent Acquisition

• Partner with managers to fulfil the headcount plan by providing hiring manager support and efficient, and effective selection processes.

• Provide HR perspective and input on all final hiring decisions and employment offers.

Organisational Design

• Partner with Managers in promotion and job change decisions.

• Assist the Director of HR in ensuring that the organisational design is sustainable and enables the EMEA business strategy and future challenges.

• Work with the leadership team and Director of HR to develop strategies to develop HiPos across the business and de-risk business areas and critical roles.

Performance Measurement

• Support and coach managers on a day-to-day basis, and through the bi-annual performance review processes, to maximise individuals’ and teams’ performance.

• With the Director HR, ensure consistency of approach to performance ratings and assessment across all EMEA business.

• Support the Director HR to maintain and enact the talent review process, utilising 9 blocks for identification of HiPos, assessing retention risk and succession planning for EMEA.

Talent Development

• Work with the Director, HR to ensure that employees receive the required learning and development to deliver the EMEA business plan and to develop and grow in the organisation.

Operational responsibilities:

Adhere to company operational procedures, ensuring you:

• Follow the Company’s IMS system and comply with operational procedures

• Follow HR/legal best practices in all aspects of administration and employment law throughout Europe. Be the go-to person for queries for the allocated business area.

• Work within and pro-actively ensure others respect guidelines of Company Code of Ethics and Business Conduct

• Work with internal departments to maximise communication and improve efficiencies within teams to ensure high levels of customer service are maintained.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• Degree qualified or CIPD Level 5.

• Proven experience within Human Resources, including good knowledge of employment law

• Possess excellent IT skills, including experience of working with databases, Office Outlook essential, including hands on experience of using an HRIS or HRMS.

• Substantial experience working in an operational HR role.
