Primal Pet Group Senior Manager/ Director of QA and Sanitation in Abilene, Texas

Overview

As the Senior Manager / Director of Quality Assurance & Sanitation, you will lead key initiatives to advance our food safety strategies, including driving consistent application of good manufacturing practices across our sites, driving continuous improvement in sanitation practices, and leading an effective and efficient environmental monitoring program.  You will be responsible for developing and implementing various food safety initiatives to support our food safety plans, including but not limited to GMP training, sanitation protocols, EMP’s and QA organizational improvements.  You will lead the plant QA teams and help partner closely with Corporate FSQA, manufacturing, procurement, and other supply chain functions to identify the most efficient methods and practices while simultaneously raising the standards for food safety.  You will also work closely with R&D, other Quality resources, and executive leadership to ensure a seamless and consistent advancement of overall food safety and quality initiatives.

Location

Abilene or Fairfield preferred, 70% travel if not located in either plant

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead plant QA & Sanitation teams with excellence, ensuring the right organizational capabilities and trained teams are in place to ensure food safety

  • Directly coach and guide the plant QA & sanitation managers and other resources in delivering new food safety processes and standards to raise the standard for food safety across Primal

  • Collaborate with customer service leadership to develop continuous improvement program and metrics for quality related consumer complaints and inquiries

  • Develop and implement GMP standards across all sites that meet or exceed food safety and regulatory requirements

  • Ensure best practices for sanitation are in use that meet food safety requirements and support efficient manufacturing

  • Develop and implement an effective, predictive EMP program

  • Identify and mitigate risks and obstacles that may impact food safety or product quality

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among team members, promoting a positive and productive work environment.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to food safety, quality, and sanitation

  • Work seamlessly with R&D, other QA functions, and other supply chain functions to help deliver goals and objectives

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in quality, micro-biology, or a related field of science, engineering, or supply chain program preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., HACCP) are highly desirable.

  • 5 years+ of relevant experience including quality or food safety, as well as other relevant CPG supply chain experience preferably within the foods or other regulated products industries.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing teams of 10-30 people or more

  • Strong understanding of food manufacturing processes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a collaborative and results-oriented approach.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

    Additional Considerations

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Willingness to travel >50%+ of the time to project sites and manufacturing facilities

Salary Ranges: Salary offered will be determined based on experience level, qualifications, location, and other factors not limited to the ones mentioned. We are targeting the below ranges for the following locations:

  • Abilene Texas: $94,000 - $140,000

  • Fairfield, California: $120,000 - $170,000
