Amentum Network Engineer in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland
Network Engineer
Amentum is currently seeking a Network Engineer who will be responsible for design, installation, configuration, testing, analysis, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of laboratory network infrastructure and applications. This position is based at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, Maryland.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain health of laboratory network equipment, such as switches, routers, firewalls, and networking tools and applications
Assist with engineering development, integration, installation, operation, & maintenance of the tactical network
Support the integration of Data/Voice/Video in the tactical network, engineering and technical documentation and assistance in the development of technical requirements, specifications, plans and reports, software/hardware engineering, preparation of independent assessments, test and evaluation, and architectural/interoperability support.
Ensure all management network equipment adheres to IAVA requirements; make upgrades and modifications as needed.
Install / upgrade computer components and software; provide routine automation, patch systems, and maintain security policies.
Maintains systems configuration and manages the installation and integration of system fixes, upgrades, and enhancements.
Document network and update as changes occur.
Document IP addresses that are currently in use per subnet (RackTables or Excel Sheet).
Provide network diagrams and other documentation as required to support customer needs.
Provide technical support to lab staff and testing community when required.
Resolve hardware and software interface and interoperability problems.
Serves as liaison between facility users, vendors, security, and management to ensure smooth operations of laboratory tours and test activities.
Assist government personnel in the scheduling and task management for regular maintenance, new construction or installation of laboratory equipment and internal systems (e.g. cooling system, alarms, audio/visual systems, security equipment, etc).
Work with lab personnel to determine equipment, hardware, and software needs and advise the manager/leadership team on equipment upgrades, replacement, and repairs needed to meet lab technical requirements and/or revised security and IA requirements.
Ensure compliance with laboratory Cybersecurity, IA, and physical security standards and procedures for day to day lab activities.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience with the following:
Cisco Experience to include Cisco IOS and NXOS, Cisco ISE, Cisco UCS Networking and Configuration, Cisco ASA
Static routing and routing protocols, such as OSPF and EIGRP
Experience working with Microsoft and a background with designing and implementing LANs and VLANs
Experience with DHCP, DNS, and VRFs
DoD8570.01-M approved baseline security certification (e.g.: Security+)
Computing Environment Certification (e.g.: Juniper, Cisco, Brocade, etc.)
CCNA or higher preferred
Ability to work onsite 5 days a week
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Active Secret US Government Clearance. Please note, US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
ActiveExperience with wireshark or similar applications
VMWare experience: VMware Networking
Familiarity with Army Software Baselines and Architectures
Experience reviewing and applying up-to-date STIG solutions.
