Weatherford R&M TECHNICIAN in Aberdeen, United Kingdom

The R&M Technician role undertakes hands-on tasks and utilizes Weatherford's facilities, equipment, machinery, and systems. The role applies techniques and practices to complete the scope of tasks covering inspection, repair, and maintenance of field tools, preparing them for their next assignment. Tasks will span the entire process from receiving the tools, dismantling, repairing, and refurbishing using technical manuals, procedures, and technical work instructions. While this is a generic job description covering the different levels of the R&M Technician position, all aspects of the roles and responsibilities are relevant. More senior roles lead and oversee tasks carried out by other R&M employees.

Roles & Responsibilities:

SAFETY, SECURITY & COMPLIANCE

QUALITY

OPERATIONS

  • Participates in all daily operations and safety meetings, toolbox, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and reports any issues promptly using the appropriate tools.

  • Maintains equipment, facilities, and work area in a presentable and safe working condition.

  • Repairs machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, cranes, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.

  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.

  • Follows maintenance processes and procedures to undertake the following: unloading, disassembly, cleaning, pressure testing, visual checking, painting, assembly, loading, and storage of tools, completing all necessary documentation as required against their level of training and competence.

  • Initiates, updates, closes out AIRTs, PFTs, forms, checklists, and work orders during maintenance of equipment and assets, following the necessary maintenance processes and procedures against their level of training and competence.

  • Complies with the WO labor time log by accurately clocking in/Out of the WO (Work Order) Time tracking system.

  • Utilizes all tools and lifting equipment for opening and closing crates & containers and uses pallet and forklift trucks for the safe movement of equipment to and from vehicles, storage areas, racks, shelves, and bins against their level of training and competence. Must be certified for the use of lifting equipment, including forklift trucks and cranes.

  • Accepts incoming shipments and prepares shipments for dispatch, validating quantities and ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and complies with all Company procedures against their level of training and competence.

  • In senior positions, the employee will often lead the team in undertaking all the assignments detailed above. This includes troubleshooting equipment issues, implementing corrective actions, and providing access to all relative R&M documented policies, procedures, work instructions, and technical manuals allowing the R&M team to complete their work effectively and efficiently.

  • Senior roles will ensure all field and workshop personnel follow the corrective and preventative maintenance procedures, ensuring all failures are followed up to closure with a proper root cause analysis and with the implementation of predetermined corrective action(s).

  • Senior roles might lead the workshop, defining and distributing the work assignment schedules while evaluating the quality, proficiency, and efficiency of the works being carried out through performing regular inspections to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.

  • Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or approved suppliers according to Weatherford’s guidelines and procedures.

  • Supports and complies with the LEAN initiatives and participates in the continuous efficiency improvement program of the facility.

  • Performs other duties and activities safely as assigned by supervisor within physical constraints of the job.

COMMUNICATION

  • Where required, will report all equipment failures and troubleshooting requirements to the R&M Management.

  • Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external.

  • Supervisors and Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reports.

FINANCIAL

  • Costs incurred should be within approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedure.

Experience & Education

REQUIRED:

  • 4-6+ years of experience in Oil & Gas industry.

  • Basic Computer Skills.

  • Basic Mathematics.

  • Working with hazardous materials, radioactive elements and explosives.

  • Awareness of NDT, NDE and ATEX policies and principles.

  • Perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, monitoring of equipment.

  • Critical thinking, active learning and listening, complex problem solving.

  • Good reading and writing skills, strong judgement and decision-making to be in line with policies and procedures.

  • Good time management.

  • Quality Control Analysis to ensure product meets required standards.

  • Capable to meet the physical demands that the role requires.

  • Information and task ordering an ability to identify when a problem may occur and where possible to understand solution.

  • Ability to react effectively and efficiently in operating tools and machinery.

  • Ability to imagine how tools and products will look when preparing for assembly, repair or modifications.
