Job Overview
Responsible for assisting the Financial Controller with the financial management and statutory/internal compliance of Teledyne Marine UK’s Aberdeen based operations. The position will also involve assisting with the other Teledyne Marine businesses in the UK and Denmark. Although predominantly based in Aberdeen, the position will require some short monthly trips to Alton in Hampshire and occasional visits to Denmark.
Key Objectives
• Ensure compliance of financial policies and controls as set by Teledyne Technologies including Sarbanes Oxley regulations.
• Ensure compliance to all UK statutory laws and regulations and to US equivalents where appropriate.
• Production of financial information to meet Corporate, UK and Divisional deadlines.
• To provide the business with timely and meaningful information to enable decision making.
• Ensure financial integrity within areas of responsibility and cross function.
• Ensure effective management of working capital.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and supervise the day to day running of the business’s finances.
• Control, manage and complete month-end close-out process in accordance with strict corporate reporting deadlines including additional quarterly reporting requirements.
• Detailed variance analysis of monthly and year to date results against both forecast and budget including written reports detailing significant differences.
• Prepare and, when required, load monthly figures into consolidation software, ensuring all data validation is clear before Controllers review and approval.
• Review and approve month end balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage, monitor and mentor a full-time cost and management accountant based in Aberdeen.
• Administration of certain areas of the ERP system including updating system exchange rates, period access by user group, and roll forward of periods once closed.
• Prepare and/or review/approve manual journal entries.
• Participate and contribute in weekly management meetings reviewing forecasted sales, orders and backlog.
• Prepare monthly operational excellence report for each site and for TMUK consolidated.
• Preparation of monthly rolling forecasts including balance sheet and cash flow.
• Work closely with shared service centre on AP/AR issues, credit monitoring and approval of credit limits.
• Manage and report cash flow.
• Manage, supervise and reconcile physical inventory (cycle and year end).
• Quarterly calculation and review of system labour/overhead rates and Excess and Obsolete reserves.
• Preparation and reconciliation of annual USGAAP management and UKGAAP statutory accounts.
• Perform as the main lead on external and internal audits.
• Preparation of annual budgets by Site, Product and Department.
Qualifications & Experience
• Qualified or finalist accountant with substantial relevant experience.
• High level IT skills including ERP, database interrogation/management, spreadsheet modelling & associated interactivity
• Experience with IFS or similar ERP system
• Experience within a similar accounting role and strong analytical skills
• Experience with USGAAP, Sarbanes Oxley COSO framework
