Transportation Technology and System Operations Project Manager

 

DKS is looking for a transportation engineer or planner who is ready for the opportunity to take on more management and leadership in the Transportation Technology and Operations field. We help our clients in the western states plan, design, implement, and operate technology that supports multimodal transportation projects. The ideal candidate is familiar with transportation system management and operations (TSMO), intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and how technology can improve transportation and safety for people who walk, roll, and ride.  Moreover, the ideal candidate is passionate about advancing equity in our communities through projects, actions, our relationships.  This position will focus on planning for TSMO, ITS, broadband, and other emerging technologies. Familiarity with design, modeling, data analytics, and operations would be beneficial.   • Develop local, regional or statewide TSMO/smart region plans
  • Develop systems engineering documentation for complex projects involving transportation technology (e.g. projects involving connected or automated vehicles or shared use mobility). Includes feasibility studies, concepts of operation, functional requirements, system architectures, and system test plans.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation or transit projects involving ITS/TSMO technologies, including communications networks
  • Facilitates technical conversations with information technology (IT) professionals for communications network architecture and design
  • Provide systems manager and construction engineering support for implementation of transportation technology projects (e.g. technology submittal reviews, verification/validation testing)
  • Prepare requests for information (RFI) and requests for proposals for clients for transportation system or technology purchases (e.g. advanced transportation management system, transit computer aided dispatch system, variable speed limit management software)
  • Assists clients with innovative project procurement, such as grant writing, and delivery approaches
  • Strategize and plan for ITS/TSMO/Smart Cities initiatives
  • Develop and maintain relationships within the transportation technology industry (e.g. agencies, auto manufacturers, third party data providers/software developers, transit)
  • Actively participate in regional, state, or national committees or working groups aimed at advancing the state of the practice within transportation technology
  • Bring innovation and creativity to expanding equity and sustainability in our projects and engagements
  • Train, mentor, and coach junior DKS employees
