Amazon Senior Program Manager, Selling Partner Developer Services in Seattle, Washington

Amazon Selling Partner Developer Services is seeking a results driven and strategic business leader who will drive our API Release program to meet the unique challenge of scaling our product release mechanisms for an ever growing suite of APIs and data product. In this role, you will lead worldwide efforts to maintain, scale, and improve a program that will determine the success of API releases from teams from across Amazon, identifying opportunities to automate, streamline, and scale the program to ensure a high quality customer experience.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, resourceful, customer-focused, and collaborative, with clear communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. They must be able to influence without authority and separate noise from signals in a complex product space. They are highly autonomous and have a proven track record in taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. They are able to quickly adapting to changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful/ambiguous situations to relentlessly simplify processes while earning the trust of a diverse set of partners and customers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Negotiate product launch timelines and requirements with internal stakeholders and based on internal and external team priorities and capacity and the business needs of our Developers, Selling Partners, and external customers.

  • Demonstrate thought leadership by identifying automation product improvement opportunities to scale our API release and documentation work.

  • Drive tactical execution of key process improvement initiatives based on the Lean/Six Sigma principles in partnership with global operations teams.

  • Understand how developers use our APIs to scale their business and support their customers – Sellers, Vendors, Shippers and other tenants - who sell products and do business on Amazon.

  • Understand how changes to our APIs and our API platform experience impacts Developers, Selling Partners, and Amazon shoppers.

  • Define the right metrics to measure quality of our Change Management Process, and provide precise feedback to the operations, tech and business teams on corrective actions and product improvements. Key metrics include: productivity and customer satisfaction.

  • Guide business program and operations teams on executing changes based on the weekly and monthly business reviews to improve quality of developer experience

  • Lead core program and project management reviews (e.g., business review meetings, program flashes, resource planning, retrospectives, process audits)

About the team

The vision of Selling Partner Developer Services API Release and Globalization team is to externalize quality, global API data products with speed and scale via a self-service experience supported by comprehensive, accessible multi-language documentation to simplify building, migrating to, or integrating with Amazon APIs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience in complex problem solving, and working in a tight schedule environment

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

  • 2+ years working with APIs or EDIs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field

  • 3+ years of experience developing or releasing RESTful APIs

  • Experience in business intelligence and analytics, including modern business process management (BPM) capabilities

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
