We are seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer with an interest in cutting-edge AI technologies who is committed to safeguarding Microsoft and customer assets in the cloud. Responsibilities

  • Drive technical direction of the platforms and services in security, safety, privacy and compliance.

  • Provides technical leadership to assure system architecture meets security and compliance requirements and expectations.

  • Empowers the organization’s engineering teams with clear architectural principles and framing.

  • Oversees, influences, and owns efforts and design discussions for the overall system architecture of entire products/solutions that are deeply complex and often ambiguous.

  • Create proposals for architecture and design documents and leads testing of hypotheses and proposed solutions. Shares and acts on findings from investigations, owns design decisions, and oversees the less experienced team members.

  • Leads design discussions with the team and shares findings/learnings from investigations, owns design decisions.

  • Drive Fundamentals across the organization and improve the overall security and compliance posture for the organization.

  • Collaborates effectively with architects across the company. Define the architecture and deliver high-quality code through collaboration with several partner teams.

  • Technical leadership, coaching and mentoring a team of highly skilled Software Engineers. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C# or Java

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in developing solutions for Cloud Security

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 15+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C# or Java

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C# or Java

  • OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
