St. Joseph Institute Recovery Advocate/ Tech in PORT MATILDA, Pennsylvania

JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title:Recovery Advocate/Tech FLSA: Reports to: Clinical Director Supervises: Recovery Advocate(RA) Non-Exempt, Per Diem/Full-Time Clinical Director N/A POSITION SUMMARY The Recovery Advocate (RA) functions in conjunction with the clinical and nursing team, assisting with the daily process of client care. This includes admission of clients to the unit, psycho-educational group presentations, monitoring of clients, communicating client and unit issues to others on the clinical team, and documentation. Recovery Associates, as a core member of the health care team, must demonstrate the ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of multiple clients. QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor's Degree is preferred but a High School Diploma, with experience in the health services field, would be considered. Must have a good understanding of the addictive process and recovery skills and a minimum of one (1) year experience in the field of addiction is preferred. CPR/ First Aid. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS 1.Perform admissions and orientation of the client to the unit. 2.Conduct client check of belongings upon admission. 3.Participate in daily multidisciplinary meeting to discuss psychosocial assessment,treatment planning and ongoing discharge planning. 4.Supervise urine collection of clients, as necessary. 5.Conduct crisis intervention with the nursing supervisor. 6.Provide transportation for clients as indicated by supervisor. 7.Conduct educational lectures at admission, during facility stay, and at time ofdischarge for clients and families, as indicated. 8.Document client progress and participation in educational lectures. 9.Serve as a liaison between wellness staff and clients, keeping staff informed of high-riskissues. 10.Assess the appropriateness of the level of care and discuss with the wellness team. 11.Identify potential client problems and discuss them in the daily multidisciplinarytreatment meeting. 12.Participate in quality monitoring and treatment outcome. 13.Document in the chart and on worksheets in accordance with department and facilityprocedure. 14.Other documentation completed in accordance with Federal, State and CARFregulations. 15.Communicate with clients and staff in a professional and constructive manner. 16.Communicate with clients/families to ensure understanding of treatment protocols asindicated. 17.Communicate regularly and effectively with the multidisciplinary treatment team. 18.Receive clients, family members and guests to the unit in a professional and courteousmanner. 19.Perform other duties as assigned. Recovery Advocate JD -- 04-2019 2 of 3 ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Accept responsibility for professional growth and development of self. 2.Adhere to facility, departmental, corporate, personnel and standard policies andprocedures. 3.Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled. 4.Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality. 5.Support facility wide performance improvement goals and objectives. 6.Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and clients. 7.Assist with fire extinguisher checks, vehicle inspections and care, smoke detectorinspections, and air filter changes. 8.Transport clients as needed for admission and discharge. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1.Direct and indirect client contact as deemed appropriate. 2.Use of good body mechanics and a physical demand factor of medium work. Intermittentphysical activity, including walking, standing, sitting, lifting up to 30 pounds and supportingclients, is expected. 3.Working conditions include exposure to allergens (e.g., latex), potential hazards (e.g.chemicals, infection, biohazards, wastes, and computer use. 4.Must be able to tolerate stressful situations and various conditions unpleasant to the senseof sight, touch, and smell. 5.Ability to adjust to increased workload. ATTENDANCE/PUNCTUAL TY EXPECTATIONS 1.Reliable in punctuality and attendance, adhering to facility and departmental policies. 2.Demonstrates appropriate use of benefit time without such things as: a.Recurring absences in conjunction with days off. b.Frequent occurrences of single days off. 3.Complies with company and departmental policies with respect to attendance, whichincludes providing required documentation and notification of at least two hours prior tostarting time or as established by departmental policies. 4.Adheres to time allotted for breaks and meals, and returns to work at designated times. 5.Does not experience absences that adversely affect the ability of the department tosatisfactorily perform essential job functions.
