JOB SUMMARY

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Aloft Philly seeks a resourceful, collaborative and customer service-focused Maintenance Engineer to join its team. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for hotel guestroom preventative maintenance and will assist in the repairs and maintenance of hotel equipment. This is a high-contact position that will interact regularly with hotel guests and associates.

This is a full-time position, 3pm-11pm (5 days a week, with 2 days off) including weekends and/or holidays.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Complete work order requests in a timely and efficient manner. Repairs may include: plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling, ventilation, furnishings and fixtures, painting, wall cover repairs, light carpentry, door and window repairs.

  • Perform skilled repair and maintenance operations using power tools, hand tools, and welding equipment.

  • Provide Security Coverage to the hotel, i.e., patrols lobbies, corridors, and public area rooms.

  • Respond to all guest requests in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Confers with management, interviews guests and employees, and screens persons to detect infringements and investigate disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalism, and accidents.

  • Completes incident/investigations report to security incidents and forwards reports to the appropriate management personnel.

  • Patrols public areas to detect unsafe conditions and missing or inoperative safety equipment and take corrective

  • Maintain all mechanical areas in an orderly and clean condition.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on hotel emergency procedures and all emergency shut-off locations.

  • Inspect public areas daily for safety hazards and other potential issues.

  • Maintain the Rooms Preventative Maintenance Program, including updated records on file.

  • Support hotel’s environmental commitment by having the knowledge, skills and values to help Aloft be a leader in the global goal of “greening” the hospitality industry.

  • Participate in special projects as needed.

OUR MUST-HAVES:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • 3 years maintenance experience, including thorough knowledge and understanding of general repairs and maintenance.

  • 3 years mechanical engineering experience

  • 5 years Security experience

  • Must be able to work overnights, weekend, and holidays.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; collaborative with a team-oriented approach to work.

  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and follow-up amid frequent work interruptions.
