We are looking for an entrepreneurial and collaborative leader for the role of Corporate Development Leader for Guardian. In this highly visible role, you will have a meaningful impact on Guardian’s transformation by analyzing and assessing industry trends to help shape and influence our strategy, formulating strategies and securing investments to pursue growth opportunities, structuring, and executing partnerships and acquisitions to advance the growth strategy.

As Corporate Development Leader , you will also be part of the broader enterprise Strategy & Corporate Development team, which is responsible driving enterprise strategy and planning, developing inorganic strategic theses, and identifying, sourcing, and leading M&A, venture and other enterprise and business partnerships, as well as managing and optimizing these transactions and relationships. While you will focus primarily on corporate development, the team works as one team and you will have the opportunity to lean in and help shape a wide range of strategic topics for Guardian.

You will identify, structure, manage, and deliver high-visibility corporate projects aligned with the following areas of responsibility.

  • Strategy Development – Identify industry trends and build strategy around capabilities needed to support business area strategy, complete financial impact analysis, build business cases to secure funding/investment and determine appropriate structure (e.g., build, buy, or partner)

  • External Trends and Insights – Leverage network of external investment banking firms and other partners to stay abreast of general M&A industry trends and bring that external thinking into Guardian’s strategy. Highlight case studies of relevant transactions and implications for Guardian.

  • Transaction Execution – Structure transactions, lead negotiations, complete due diligence and execute transactions (e.g., acquisitions or dispositions). Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support transactions and post-closing deal integration.

  • Monitoring & Optimization – Oversee partnerships sourced from M&A activity as an extension of our corporate strategy. Identify key value drivers, surface issues and partner with business areas to ensure partnerships are delivering financial and strategic value to Guardian

  • Team Leadership – Coach and develop the team as a talent pipeline for Guardian; build the ability to use strategic frameworks to structure problem solving and identify issues, develop quantitative and qualitative/conceptual analyses of operational and financial data, and perform competitor/industry research using both public and non-public sources

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in finance, economics, accounting, or related field of study (MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred)

  • 8-10+ years relevant work experience to include:

  • 5+ years demonstrated ability working in corporate development, private equity, strategy, investment banking, or transaction advisory

  • Proven deal experience

  • Strong financial modeling skill: proven ability to build models from scratch and modify models crafted by others

  • Strong communication skills effectively (both oral and written), especially with senior and board level leadership

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, organizational savvy and judgment – ability to navigate at all levels of the organization and achieve goals with matrix teams and resources

  • Deep analytical and quantitative approaches leveraging understanding of common financial documents/statements and ability to build financial models in Excel; strong proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, to formulate business strategy and influence decision making

  • Demonstrated success in leading, coaching and mentoring a team to solve complex strategic problems and grow talent for the organization

Salary Range

$171,330.00 - $281,467.50

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
