LinkedIn is looking for a Senior Manager to lead LinkedIn’s Artifact Validation Engineering team. As a leader for this team, you will build platforms that will ensure that all deployable software that is built at LinkedIn has been thoroughly tested, and is ready for production. The team’s charter is to ensure that there are minimum regressions in the functionality, performance and reliability of the artifacts that are produced across Engineering. The complexity of this charter is owed to a varied set of development, build and deployment strategies that are employed at LinkedIn, across multiple languages and product domains. Further, this team will work with other sister teams that are responsible for validation strategies pre-build, and post-release of the artifacts produced, increasing the significance and the necessity of this team’s, and your objectives.

You will be responsible for owning and driving requirements for the charter, interacting with customers, developing and driving the technology roadmap, collaborating with partners and leading the team to build and deliver on the objectives of the charter. As a people leader, you will be responsible to inspire your team, nurture an inclusive environment, and enable them to deliver on the business objectives with a high bar of craft, while growing and transforming the talent on the team. As a leader for the charter, you will be responsible to build meaningful relationships with customers, partners and stakeholders across the company, to ensure inputs and delivery on the charter. As an engineering lead, you will be responsible for identifying areas of opportunities to shape the technical aspects of the roadmap, guide deep technical conversations, deep dive into the code and architecture of the platforms your team builds, and direct the team to build with a high craftsmanship bar, mixed with a healthy sense of urgency.

Responsibilities:

•You will be a professional coach for a team of experienced engineers, and help them realize their potential by setting clear expectations, openly evaluating performance, upholding accountability, and providing challenges to stretch their skills

•You will build large-scale and high-performance platforms

•You will collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, product, design and business leadership, to formulate overall strategy and drive execution

•You will create an inclusive work environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, innovation and learning, while holding a high bar for craftsmanship

•You will identify, leverage and evangelize opportunities to establish engineering best practices

Basic Qualifications:

•BS/BA in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent technical experience

•7+ years of industry experience

•5+ years experience in large-scale system design and software development

•3+ years of hands-on technical management experience

•Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages (like Java/Python/C/C++/Scala/etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

•5+ years of hands-on technical management experience

•8+ years of industry experience

•Hands on experience in Java code reviews

•Python development experience

•Experience managing managers

•Experience building products and/or platforms from the ground up

•Experience with building and growing teams

•Experience partnering with product leadership on strategy, and creating a world class product experience that delights customers, helps them succeed, and thus grows the business

•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

The pay range for this role is $171,000 to $280,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
