Hyrum City is seeking a Power Superintendent for its municipally owned and operated Power Department.  The Power Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the utility. 

The Power Superintendent is expected to understand the range of operational matters, including power supply, financial information, budgeting, technology, generation and distribution of electricity, customer care, public relations, and regulatory matters.  Hyrum City Power operates with an annual budget of approximately $15 million.  The Power Superintendent leads a staff of eight.

·         Provides high quality, senior executive leadership to encourage innovation within the City that results in a modern government responsive to residents and businesses. 

·         Have considerable knowledge of underground and overhead power distribution systems; design and analysis; considerable knowledge of contract development and administration.

·         Serve as "player-manager" with staff demonstrating competence in electric utility management, as well as coaching others to achieve maximum results.

·         Display knowledge on the theory, principles, and techniques of organizing and managing electric utilities including State and Federal guidelines, rules and regulations applicable to electric utilities.

·         Have skills in planning, directing, and managing the overall operations of a municipal electric utility, including developing/implementing policies and procedures, determining rates, and preparing and monitoring the budget, and preparing reports.

Required Education and Experience:

Education: Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or other field related to the management of an electrical utility; AND Experience: Eight (8) years of broad general management and progressive experience in the electric power system management. OR Any equivalent combination of education and managerial experience in the electric power system.
