Dish Network Staff Engineer in HERNDON, Virginia

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Staff Engineer sought by DISH Wireless, LLC in Herndon, VA

Build and maintain the architecture of RAN Components of the Standalone 5G Cloud Native network. Provide Subject Matter Expert knowledge to the downstream teams. Analyze 3GPP specifications and evaluate how DISH RAN Vendors comply to 3GPP requirements. Perform analytical studies of the RAN features and evaluate their application and benefits for DISH wireless networks. Research and evaluate emerging technologies in Wireless industry and translate their application in an operation environment and user experience. Work with Senior RAN Engineers and help develop feature requirements for 5G radio. Work on RAN test and validation processes, test cases, and testing of the RAN features and application in lab and field. Work on cross-domain engineering projects, drive system architecture and implementation processes. Perform detailed engineering analysis and innovate solutions based on business requirements and applicable systems. Work on 5G to optimize network automation and optimization processes. Perform system emulation, link analysis of wireless systems and create solutions to improve performance. Perform technical evaluations of major system enhancements and major requirements. Create detailed system level functional requirements and specifications. Perform mobile network design and performance optimization.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Requires Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus 8 years of relevant experience (5 years of which must be progressive post-baccalaureate experience) in job offered or as Senior RF Design Engineer/RF Engineer. Also requires 8 years of work experience using the following (which may have been gained concurrently):

  • RAN or RF engineering

  • Supporting the development, design and optimization of a greenfield Wireless network technologies such as 5G or LTE or CDMA or GSM

  • RF Network Planning Tool such as Planet or Atoll or MapInfo

  • Defining test cases and the test procedures to test and validate new RAN Network performance by KPI analysis and Parameter Optimization

  • Performing benchmark analysis between pre and post drive test data

  • Designing link budget to set baseline for network design support various business use cases

  • Automating RF Design/Optimization related activities to bring efficiency in the Network Design

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $153,296.00/Year - $153,296.00/Year
