Position Description

Deque is hiring an Accessibility Developer Consultant to work with the Deque Developer Services team to guide web developers to solve accessibility problems.  The ideal candidate comes from a front-end developer background, with strong experience in accessibility and the ability to explain complex topics in a way that is easy to understand.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide detailed guidance and lead discussions with client developers to solve accessibility problems

• Troubleshoot complex accessibility problems

• Develop in client teams to build accessible solutions in client code

• Perform accessibility assessments, validate fixes, write VPATs

• Develop custom solutions and reports for client needs in Deque products

• Develop automation solutions and internal tools for Deque Accessibility Consultants

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of frontend web technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and experience using frameworks such as React, Vue, and Angular

• Experience with accessibility evaluation tools and techniques

• Knowledge of assistive technologies and user requirements for people with disabilities

• Deep knowledge of WAI-ARIA, WCAG

• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Familiarity with Agile project management methodology
