Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Summer Internship - Transportation Unit (College) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Are you currently enrolled in a college or university? Are you interested in gaining experience in the accounting field? The General Accounting Division of the Bureau of Accounting and Financial Management (BAFM) is seeking a driven Government Services Intern to join our team of professionals. This position will give you the opportunity to assist in the accounting duties related to reviewing, processing, recording, and controlling financial data for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this internship position, you will assist with the review and update of federal award master data maintained in SAP, assist with the review and approval of accounting journal entries submitted by PennDOT personnel, assist with the composition and posting of accounting journal entries for payroll adjustments and statutory transfers, assist with monitoring transportation unit resource accounts maintained for subrecipient reimbursement agreements and Federal Highway Administration grant closeouts, assist with grant and project tracking sheet updates, and assist with composing and distributing records retention letters for Federal Highway Administration grant closeouts. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may be expected to work from home (telework) full-time, with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements. Please keep in mind that while this is a full-time telework position, that can change at any time at the Governor's discretion. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. QUALIFICATIONS You must be currently enrolled in a college or university full-time in an undergraduate or graduate program by the start of the internship. You must be in a good academic standing (2.5 GPA or higher). Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
