Job Summary
The Principal Engineer creates or enhances applications that meets the needs of end-users and achieve business goals by identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations, then designing and implementing solutions. The Principal Engineer works on several solutions at a time that tend to be of high complexity. They provide technical guidance to software engineering teams and oversee the software engineers’ aspects of all projects.
The Principal Engineer performs troubleshooting and issue resolution for high complexly software problems. Acts as a subject matter expert for software design and coding. Will have responsibility of mentoring all engineers.
Job Responsibilities
May be called upon to manage a cross functional or enterprise level major incidents or failure
Lead large EAI teams in large complex projects (and support issues) or functional areas of larger projects or programs
Heavy emphasis on Clinical and Revenue Cycle management product lines and workflow
Provides expertise, or leads, in the evaluation, engineering/design and implementation services for new products, technologies and solutions to address corporate business requirements
Has a deep awareness and understanding of emerging trends and technologies in IT and Healthcare and is considered a technical expert
Author enterprise policy, procedure or guidelines
Ensures overall EAI deliverables are able to be completed in a time, on budget, and at the highest quality
Mentors members of the EAI Integration team
Is considered a subject matter expert in the enterprise and multiple technology areas, platforms and functions
Works on, and may lead, multiple projects that may span the enterprise.
Serves as an escalation point for complex requests and issues
Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Medical, or Business discipline or equivalent experience.
10+ years required
Broad experience with server, infrastructure architecture and application design.
Leading architectural design of large enterprise initiatives
Extensive working knowledge of one or more data integration middleware products and/or technologies such as HL7 interface engine, IBM WebSphere Message Broker, IBM MQ, Rhapsody, Axway product suite, API Framework, SFTP/FTP scripting required
Experience working with HL7, HIPAA transactions sets, and EDI engines highly desired.
A record of partnering with Clinical and/or Revenue Cycle Management Senior leadership
Engine based software development certifications or a PMP certification are a plus

$51.66 - $74.91 /hour
