The MENA+TR team is seeking an experienced Environmental Professional to join the team, who will lead the development of programs for environment media (air, stormwater, waste water, waste) and management (such as, Incident Management, Regulatory Interactions) and associated trainings to support Ops and other partner functions in executing the programs efficiently and compliantly at the site level. This role will work closely with the Global EAP EMS Pillars teams, and the EAP field customers to ensure that the designed programs and trainings will meet the needs of each stakeholder group. This role will provide strategic direction to the MENA + TR environment program and trainings, and invent and simplify to communicate technical concepts to audiences with varying backgrounds and experience. This role will further assist in working with consultants or technical teams to resolve regulated environment program barriers, ensuring customers have a positive experience with internal tools and resources, and coordinating streamlined access to process material. This individual will focus on implementing scalable and sustainable solutions for managing compliance in the environmental field. Additionally, this role will support the MENA Environmental Leader in environment data management and business reporting to meet the Amazon’s high bar.

The ideal candidate must possess proficiency in environmental program and regulations and act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), and demonstrate this expertise when partnering with teams throughout the Amazon business and operations. The successful candidate must be able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment, have a results-oriented approach, strong analytical, and excellent written and verbal communication skill and proven ability to lead complex projects across multiple countries, sites and businesses.

This position will directly report to the MENA Environmental Leader.

MENA Environment Program, Training and Reporting Manager’s Responsibilities:

· Develop and support region and country specific environment programs that are locally relevant, right size, user-friendly and accessible.

· Work with internal stakeholders, such as Operations (including ACES), WHS, Facilities, Legal, Dangerous Goods, Engineering, RME / Facilities, Procurement, Learning and Development, Real Estate and New Build teams, to identify and remove barriers for successful program development, deployment and process improvements.

· Release network alerts to stakeholders on new developments, requirements, and updates around the programs.

· Deploy and monitor business / geographical performance against applicable key performance indicators (KPIs).

· Support and lead in the preparation and finalization of business review reports.

· Think big to develop, integrate, and implement standardized tech and program solutions to increase compliance while reducing burden on Amazon resource requirements.

· Partner with the MENA + TR Launch and Engineering Teams to ensure the new building launches are in compliance with the applicable local regulations and conformance with Amazon standards.

· Supervise consultants hired to deliver specific products and services under the Programs and Trainings scope.

· Provide SME support to MENA+TR team members, when needed.

Basic Qualifications:

· A completed Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering or related field of study.

· 7+ years of experience serving as an environment manager, program specialist, or program manager.

· In depth knowledge of international regulatory framework and country specific environmental (including waste and hazmat) regulations, programs and processes.

· Experience in developing and managing complex environmental programs for air, waste, and water.

· Solid experience in partnering with cross functional teams to develop and implement programs as well as on continuous improvement projects.

· Experience in leading change in multiple site / country environment and the ability to influence without authority.

· Experience demonstrating a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and achieve results.

· Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.

· Excellent business writing and verbal communication skills, including comfortable in interfacing with senior leaders.

· Ability to adapt fast-paced environment with changing circumstances, directions and strategy.

· Proven track record of sound decision making, taking ownership and delivering results.

· Ability to develop and implement functional goals and roadmaps.

· Must be willing to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Advanced degree or professional certification in an Environmental, Sustainability, EHS or related fields.

· ISO 14000 or equivalent program development and auditing experience.

· Experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization.

· Experience in implementing operational excellence, lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.

· Experience influencing senior leaders without authority.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and the use of pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

  • Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent

  • Master's degree or equivalent
