Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is looking to hire an experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Innovation Center Manager to manage our first Innovation Center that will host our new technologies in Automation and Robotics space. The successful candidate will be a member of the Amazon Logistics Global Innovation Engineering team and will be responsible to define, test, validate and implement various Robotics and Automation systems in the Delivery Stations network.

As the Innovation Center Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing the daily testing activities at the Last Mile Innovation Center. You will play a vital role in the validation of machine design, while coordinating with stakeholders on performance criteria and testing timelines. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in reporting and data collection. This position demands a strong background in mechanical engineering, attention to detail, and effective communication. Experience with various automation and MHE technologies, and vendor management is required.

Key job responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.

  • Ensure compliance with local documentation standards and industry regulations

  • Manage day-to-day testing activities across a portfolio of automation and robotic equipment

  • Establish and maintain a systematic data collection process

  • Ensure proper documentation and standardization of test procedures and protocols

  • Maintain and calibrate equipment to guarantee accurate and reliable performance

  • Conduct performance and validation testing post-installation during commissioning

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical/software issues during testing periods

  • Managing and prioritizing on-site resources for effective and efficient testing and data recording processes

  • Foster effective communication between product owners, external partners and with cross-functional departments to ensure alignment on testing schedules and success criteria

A day in the life

You will plan and manage execution of daily testing activities of Amazon Last Mile automation and robotics equipment in Innovation Testing Center in MEU. Your day could include cross-functional engagement with product owners and vendors, attend the site to conduct and develop test plans to validate and improve designs of equipment, reporting on test results, plan and manage resources to execute activities according to business goals, enable efficient mechanisms, and finally celebrating in the successful launches of each of the projects… Day One for all of us!

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.

  • Working experience in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation labs

  • Experience in automation, logistics, e-commerce distribution, last mile execution

  • Vendor Management within automation/OEMs

  • Knowledge of local safety regulations and compliance standards. [MEU standards]

  • Strong pro-active problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Good understanding of lean – six sigma, testing methodologies, and quality control.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

  • German language is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master Degree in Engineering or Business equivalent

  • Experience in research and development environment, validating design through product lifecycle

  • Experience in Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME)

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software or similar

  • Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous environment
