Eaton Corporation Mechanical Engineer in Davenport, Iowa

Eaton’s AER MSD Mission System Division is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer. This position will be located at our Davenport, IA facility. Relocation benefits will be provided within the United States only.

The Davenport facility has approximately 900 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace life support and safety systems components and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.

This position is responsible for design and development of mechanical, electromechanical and hydraulic parts and components for aerial refueling and external/internal tank systems. The individual will be part of an integrated product design team on new product development through full life cycle management, preparing and reviewing project related documentation to ensure completeness and quality. Additionally, the individual will be involved in supporting operation, field service, suppliers and customer teams to troubleshoot and provide technical support for legacy products.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $65250.0 - $95700.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

• Design and analyze complex mechanical assemblies for our aerial refueling product lines.

• Develop system specifications and test plans to verify models for component or system characteristics.

• Perform calculations, analysis & simulation needed to size and design hydraulic, structural, and thermal components and system.

• Capable of interpreting specifications and drawings.

• Be responsible for in house as well as off-site qualification test programs.

• Work closely with suppliers on component and sub-system development.

• Interface with customers as part of development-team programs.

• Provide innovative ideas for improvements to existing products.

• Participate in ideation for new products and technologies.

• Provide technical expertise to support Manufacturing, Field Support Engineers, and customers.

• Evaluate suitability of current products for new applications; work with team to develop bids and proposals for new, modified or upgraded products.

• Maintain an attitude supportive of continuous improvement, teamwork, cooperation, respect, and integrity.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.

• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in problem solving and conducting root-cause/corrective action analyses.

• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.

• Proficiency in reading and producing GD&T.

• Experience in writing test plans, procedures, and reports.

• Experience with failure analysis and prediction techniques.

Skills:

• Experience with Microsoft Office products like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Desire to become expert in modeling software.

• Ability to multi-task and establish priorities in a rapidly changing environment.

• Strong communication skills with emphasis on technical writing and presentation.

• Leadership skills with strong customer presence.

• Ability to demonstrate analytical problem solving.

• CAD/Modeling software.

• Additive manufacturing properties and processes.
