Volunteers of America Northern Rockies Residential Technician - PT in Billings, Montana

Summary/Objective The Residential Technician is responsible for supporting the needs of Veterans in the transitional residential housing program. This position ensures the safety and security of the residents and facility.Essential Functions                   Ensures the security and operational control of the facilityMonitors and documents resident and visitor activity both inside and outside the facilityMonitors the existence of contraband in the facility through general observation and searches of the facility, residents, and vehiclesPerforms drug testing to monitor resident alcohol and drug useAssigns and monitors resident work and extra-duty assignments to ensure facility cleanlinessAssists residents with short-term coping mechanisms and problem-solvingProvides or helps residents obtain transportationCompetenciesAbility to work with a vulnerable population and maintain composure in potentially aggressive or emergenciesEffective oral and written communication skillsAbility to work both independently and as a team memberAbility to drive a company vehicle to transport residentsContinuous demonstration of behaviors aligned with a posture of servant leadership and our cultural valuesSupervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilitiesWork EnvironmentThis job operates in a residential facility environment.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This job's specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stoop as necessary.
