About the Opportunity This is an open position with Ohio Edison, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp [OE]. This is a mobile (remote) position. The selected candidate must be located within the Ohio Edison footprint. Position Summary: The Distribution Designer is responsible for the designed construction, relocation, and new business work for the Distribution function of the Company. The position leverages customer service, software use, and learned expertise in design standards and regulatory requirements. It acts as a regular point of contact for internal and external customers through the lifetime of various projects and tasks. Job Perks: * Flexible schedule * Robust Career Development Program * Overtime opportunities * Paid Time Off (PTO) * Paid time off to perform volunteer work (VTO) * HealthyLiving Wellness Program * Employee Assistance Program (EAP) * Active Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs) Responsibilities: * Demonstrate and direct a solid commitment to all aspects of safety. * Utilize FirstEnergy construction standards and engineering practices to complete single- and 3-phase overhead and underground designs to serve residential, commercial, and industrial requests. * Support job progress through customer contacts, field work, job packages, and job closeout functions including material review and paperwork verification. * Facilitate billing functions for line extension and applicable relocation work, including billing recommendations in non-routine scenarios. * Facilitate completion of outage management system (OMS) follow-up requests, inspection and maintenance repairs, streetlight installation and replacement, claims, Transmission priority repairs, aerial patrol findings, and Job & Contracting (J&C) projects. * Acquire permits related to railroad, Department of Transportation, and municipality road right-of-way. * Collaborate with customers to secure and document easements for line extensions and highway relocation work. * Update and maintain compliant records to support technical reports, metrics, and information systems. * Travel to various off-site locations as required, including FirstEnergy offices, training facilities, and customer sites. * Provide ongoing assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities. * Attend all required regulatory training. * Other duties as assigned.
